ALICE I wanted to make my pictures of Alice's Adventures In Wonderland wacky and serious at the same time. So, I mixed the styles of Ralph Steadman and John Tenniel. I look at Alice's Adventures In Wonderland as a dream, so I wanted to make the pictures as adventurous as I could. When I was younger, I used to think that Alice'sAdventures In Wonderland was a little kid's book. When we started it, I was surprised that it was really a book for nine year olds. The reason I picked the chapter, The Queen's Croquet Ground, was because I wanted to draw the Cheshire Cat and the card people. I had an idea to use water colors for the cat so it would look like he was appearing. It turned out OK, but my idea didn't really work. I didn't really expect it to come out like it did. I had a totally different idea at first. I had a lot of sketches and then I figured out what I could do with some of them. |
