Alice Essay Do you think fourth graders can illustrate a published book? Well, I'm Evan in Ms. Edinger's class of the Dalton School in New York City. My class just illustrated Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. You all may know the Disney version but it is so much different than the actual book. Now I'm going to tell you about how it happened. At first Ms. Edinger had so many books with different pictures, but the amazing thing is that they all had the exact same words. Then every day we would choose a book, Ms. Edinger would read it and we would follow along in our book. After every chapter, we showed our favorite pictures in the chapter. After we read the book, we were told what we were going to do, and Ms. Edinger said, "We are going to make illustrations of Alice on the web." Then everybody picked a chapter to draw. I chose "The Lobster Quadrille" because nobody chose it except one person and you needed two to do it. I used color pencils because I think that there is more of a choice of colors. I wanted to draw my Alice like the real Alice. My Gryphon doesn't look like the real one and that is what I was going for. The Mock Turtle in my drawing is very small and shy. That is how we made this project. I hope you enjoyed it. |
