| I am a fourth grader at the Dalton School.
Everyone in my class chose a chapter to illustrate. I chose Chapter Eight,
"The Queen's Croquet Ground." I chose it because in all the other
chapters, the Cheshire Cat is in a tree. In this one, it is in the air.
I also chose it because I thought it would be fun drawing the three gardeners,
the hedgehogs and flamingoes. I tried to make all of my illustrations different
than others.
Alice-I noticed that many people drew her with her hair loose, so I drew it in a ponytail. The gardeners-I noticed that everyone drew them with clubs or spades. I thought that since they were the Queen of Hearts' gardeners, why couldn't they have hearts on them? Cheshire Cat- I noticed that most people tried to make it not stand out, so I drew it with very bright colors to make it stand out. The hedgehogs- I saw that only one person illustrated them, so I wanted to draw them. I knew that they had spikes, so I drew them with one stuck on top of the other. The flamingo- I saw that no one had illustrated it so I wanted to illustrate it. The rose tree- I knew that the rose tree had red and white roses, but I thought that people would illustrate it that way, so I gave it different colored roses. |
