Daniel (Pages 52, 53, 54) Writes....

Hi, I'm Daniel and I am in 4th grade. I did my illustrations in colored pencil because I wanted a light touch and a large color variety. I was partially influenced by the Tenniel drawings, partly by Hewtson drawings, and partly by myself. I decided to do The Mock Turtle's Story because on the day when we were voting for what chapter each of us wanted I was late and missed the deciding of the chapters. Ms. Edinger, (my teacher) said that were 2 chapters that no one had picked and asked if some people would volunteer to do the chapters no one had picked. One of them was The Mock Turtle's Story which I liked so I volunteered for it and got it. I made my gryphon skinny and birdlike and like no other illustrator's gryphon. My mock- turtle is of medium height and moderately fat, he kind of like the Tenniel and kind of like the Hewtson Mock-Turtle. My Alice is skinny and pale and completely original. My Queen of Hearts looks like the card which I studied to get the right image. I made my characters alone with no background, I did this because I wanted to give the effect of them just showing up on the page.
