Chessie (Pages 34, 35, 36) Writes....

Did you think that 18 kids and 3 teachers could read the real Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and could do something with it on the Internet? Well they can.

Hi. I am a fourth grader at The Dalton School in Ms. Edinger's class. We studied Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and a little about Lewis Carroll.

We went to N.Y.U. because they had a special exhibit on Lewis Carroll (Charles Dogson) and all of his books. We also saw a movie called Dream Child, which was about the real Alice Little and how she went to Columbia University to get an award for Lewis Carroll's 100th birthday, and how she finally as an old lady realized how much he had loved her.

After we read the book, we started to talk about the Internet project. This is what we did. First we picked our favorite chapter in the book. Then Ms. Edinger gave us our chapters with a partner. Then, you and your partner split up the chapter and drew your own illustrations.

My partner was Mara. We did the chapter "Pig and Pepper". I picked that chapter because the Cheshire Cat was in it and he is my favorite character. I used colored pencils for my illustrations. I thought it would look nice and it would be simple.

When Ms. Edinger read the book to us (in the chapter that I picked), I could just see the pictures in my head.

When I drew my Cheshire Cat with Alice, I did it like Tenniel (the artist.)

I wanted my Alice to look like a little girl with dirty blond hair, with a blue dress and a purple sash . I wanted my Cheshire Cat to be blue and white like Ms. Edinger's stuffed animal of him.
