| Can you believe that a fourth grade
class illustrated the entire story of Alice in Wonderland? Well,
they did and it was successful. Now, I'll tell you how I illustrated my
chapter of Alice.
While Ms. Edinger's house was starting to read Alice in Wonderland I had a pretty good idea of what chapters I would like to illustrate and how to illustrate them. When we had finished the book,we got our assigned chapter or should I say three pages or half a chapter which was "Advice from a Caterpiller". I was happy because I knew exactly how to illustrate my chapter, the scenes and which characters were going to be in them, and what kind of drawing materials I would like to use. When I finally started to draw my illustrations, I did not look at other peoples illustrations. I wanted to make a new and different kind of caterpillar, but I must admit that my Alice Is based on the Tenniel Alice. Everything I illustrated I made up in my mind. Like the settings, and especially the Duchess's house. I personally made it strange and off angle in order to give the effect of the world Alice is in . Strange, crazy and really weird. The only materials I used were watercolor and pencil. Why? Well first of all I used watercolor for the Duchess's house because I wanted to make it strange and interesting. I think watercolor can do that. Pencil because I though it would look good with the kind of pictures I was drawing in my mind. |
