I strolled along the empty streets of the Town Square, shadowed by the silhouette of the Westminster Abby, and formulated ideas of what today's display would offer. I continued to pace along the cold and misty streets and inspected the lifeless shops that had yet to be opened. I reached my shop and stumbled through the door. I had begun to forage amongst yesterday's decorative containers and chose a variety of herbs and spices to fill the jar in the intricate display I intended for today's crowd. In the distance I had noticed the faint bark of the butcher's dogs and scanned the horizon, noticing that dawn was soon to peek, the crowds of citizens would soon appear.
My obligation to test my creation I had concocted the night before which continued to haunt me. I had formulated an interesting combination of spices that I had failed to test. I had been reluctant to perform the test on my self because of the fear that its effects may be fatal. I began to devise a plan. I would substitute my new creation for the formula or remedy in which the customer initially desired.
The trading market had offered a large variety of improved formulas and remedies, which immediately attracted the nobles of our village. The desire to remain healthy overwhelmed our shop with customers and was very demanding on myself alone. Along with our remedy and formula advancement, doctors of our time had advanced in the field of medicine as well. They had developed recipes and other formulated remedies to serve as cures. These medicinal advancements were quite sophisticated despite our primitive time period; it was the year 1352.
I had arranged an interesting array of my decorative containers in hope to attract many customers from the distraction of the other shops situated in the Town Square. Each container was labeled appropriately with the correct title describing what illness they cured and how they cured it. I filled each container with different substances such as ginger and cinnamon, which accomplished two separate things. Ginger maintained working kidneys and helped to digest and strengthen memory. Cinnamon prevents cold stomachs after salty meals. In general, the doctors of our time have discovered separate remedies to remedy each symptom of ones sickness.
I removed my hat and sat on the old rocking chair in the corner of the estate. I scanned my store hunting for error on the display counter. The faint creeks that the chair made supplied me with a sense of security. An impenetrable ray of light struck my face with surprise; it was the beginning of another day. I disembarked the comfort of the chair and searched the small room for a clean mixing dish and located one. I grasped the dish with my long and gnarled fingers and placed it on the counter. I snatched a clove of cinnamon and carefully dropped it into the dish. The process of crushing remedies brought painful blisters, which evolved into calluses. I heard a voice, 'twas my first customer.
The customer that arrived was dressed in colorful silk garments suggesting nobility. She provided a prescription given to her by a doctor or another form of medical aid. I approved of it with a nod of my head and carried the prescription with me to the back of my shop. I located the correct treatment and substituted my new creation and exchanged it with my customer for a sufficient sum of money.
I was curious to determine what effects would be generated from the new formula. Ever since the day my new formula was purchased, inspection of the town square's inhabitants was necessary. I sat on my small chair, eager to receive new of progress from the noble women about the purchased remedy. As time passed, I sat, watched, and waited.
