RAMPS OVERVIEW
Before concluding our discussion of battering rams, some mention of ramps should be made. Ramps were constructed to enable the battering ram to approach the wall at the chosen point of attack. The ramps were built of earth whose sides and top surface was covered with bricks and stones. Where the ramp was very wide so as to take a large number of battering rams simultaneously only part of the surface would be covered with wooden planks and bricks. These paved surfaces served as narrow courses for individual rams.
