LOGISTICS SYSTEMS OVERVIEW
On the march, Assyrian military forces either fed on travel rations or from stores held at provicial centers. When operating on enemy territory, Assyrian units normally foraged (ie; lived off the land). To maintain operational readiness each soldier would require three pounds of grain per day. Each horse or mule would need 20lbs. of grain per day or 10lbs if grazing was available.
