A hero is a person who has certain qualities. For example, a hero has to be brave and is willing do what it takes to help someone. Another example is that a hero is a helpful and a reliable person when there is something wrong. A hero is only a hero if they never ignore anyone and are always alert. Overall, I think a hero is someone to look up to.

The hero in the book Charlotte’s Web is Charlotte because she has qualities that a hero should have, such as bravery, helpfulness, and alertness. Charlotte is brave because she risked writing words on her web. That’s risky because scientists could capture her and do tests on her and that could kill her. Charlotte is helpful because she saved Wilbur’s life by writing words on her web that praised Wilbur, and the Zuckermans didn’t kill him because they thought he was special. Charlotte is alert because she knew when the words on her web were too old to keep and she made new words to keep everybody interested in Wilbur. Charlotte is a hero because Wilbur looked up to her. Wilbur looked up to her because she was smart and like a mother to him.

I think the heroes of today are policemen and firemen because they have the qualities of a hero. The firemen and policemen are brave because they saved people who were in the World Trade Center on September 11th. Firemen and policemen are helpful because they helped find their way out of the World Trade Center on September 11th. Firemen and policemen are always alert because on September 11th they didn’t ignore the World Trade Center when it was burning down. Policemen and firemen are heroes.
