First we wrote our script of the Lobster Quadrille and The Mock Turtle's Story, using a model script as an example. Our production is a summary of two chapters of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. We had many drafts of our script. We drew backdrops on cardboard. On the web, we found Tenniel's illustrations, and we cut out some of the characters for use in our production. We drew our other characters, and attached them to sticks. Then we rehearsed and rehearsed and rehearsed and rehearsed.When The Mock Turtle and the Gryphon perform the Lobster Quadrille, the background should be an ocean. Instead, we filled a zip-loc bag with water. We dyed the water blue by putting blue tissue paper in the water. The dye came off of the tissue paper, so when we removed it, the water was blue.

Alice and Duchess are walking together
Queen. Off with her head, Off with his head.
Duchess. It’s nice to see you again!
Alice. You too.
Alice pauses
Duchess. You’re thinking and that makes you not talk. I am not sure what the moral is of that is but everything has a moral.

Queen walks toward Alice and the Duchess
Queen. Have you seen the Mock turtle yet?
Alice. No, I don’t even know what a Mock turtle is.

Queen. Well, you must come and see.Alice and the queen walk towards the gryphon. Gryphon takes Alice to the Mock turtle.
Mock Turtle. On-Once I-I was a re-al turtle. I went to school in the sea. We had the best of education. We went to school every day.
I studied reeling, writhing and uglification.
Alice. What’s uglification?
Gryphon. Never heard of uglifying! Well you know what beautifying is. It’s the opposite. That’s enough about lessons. Tell her something about the games now.
Mock Turtle. You may not have lived much under the sea.
Alice. I haven’t.

Mock Turtle. And perhaps you were never introduced to a lobster.
Alice. I once tasted- no, never.
Mock Turtle. So you can have no idea what a delightful thing a lobster quadrille is!
The MockTturtle and the gryphon go into 2 lines, closer to the sea, advance twice with lobster as partner, Throw the lobster into the sea as far as you can, swim after them, turn a somersalt in the sea, change partners, back to land
Mock Turtle. Will you walk a little faster said a whiting to a snail
There’s a porpoise close behind us and he’s tredding on my tail
See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance
They are waiting on the shingle will you come and join the dance
Will you Won’t you Will you won’t you won’t you join the dance

Special Effect

At our tech rehearsal, our bag of water popped and flooded the toy theater. we were using the bag of water to create an efffect that would look like the ocean.s
