Advice from a Caterpillar

First Scene

Alice sees a big caterpillar on giant mushroom.
Caterpillar- Take hookah out of mouth.
Caterpillar- "Who are you?"
Alice- "I hardly know, sir"
Caterpillar- "Then you don’t know much"
Alice- "All I know is that I am only 3 inches high and it is such a wretched height to be"
Caterpillar- "It is NOT"
Alice- "Well, I have changed sizes so many times today that I’m not quite sure who I am. Changing sizes so many times makes one giddy."
Caterpillar- Explain yourself."
Alice-" Well, imagine yourself turning into a chrysalis and then before you know it you’re a butterfly. Won’t you find that quite queer?"
Caterpillar- " Not in the slightest"

Second Scene
Caterpillar- walks away
Caterpillar- "One side of the mushroom will make you grow taller an one side will make you grow shorter."
Alice- "I think I’ll try some"
Alice- Takes a bite of the mushroom and grows

Third Scene

Pigeon- "Serpent, nasty serpent!"
Alice- "I’m not a serpent, I’m a little girl
Alice- eats more mushroom until she is the right height and then walks away

This project was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Our class was split into groups, and each group was assigned a different chapter. Then, the groups made a play of their chapter.
