Jazz Ensemble

This performing group plays a variety of jazz and popular tunes with an emphasis on contemporary styles and a big band format. The group performs at various functions throughout the school year including a spring and fall concert.

Small Jazz Group

This ensemble, students demonstrate their improvisational skills. Emphasis is placed on performing more ambitious arrangements of jazz standard tunes. The group appears at various school functions throughout the year, and participates in the fall and spring concerts.

Jazz Improvisation I

Students study basic functional harmony and its application to improvisation. Students have the opportunity of composing and performing their own compositions. Participation in all concerts is required.

Jazz Improvisation II

More complex theoretical and harmonic concepts are introduced. Students study and perform various styles of jazz. Course meets twice weekly and is only open to students who have taken Level I and by permission of instructor.
