The Dalton School
6th-into-7th Grade
2006 Summer Reading List
Dear
Sixth-into-Seventh Graders,
Reading
is a very important part of your experience at Dalton, and we hope that
each of you will become a life-long pleasure reader. Summer is a time
for recreational reading, for exploring new books or reading those that
you never had time for during the busy school year. Although we hope that
you will read voraciously this summer, we request that each of you read
a minimum of 3 books from this Summer Reading List (or from the
7th-into-8th grade list.) In addition to that, please read George Orwell's
Animal Farm in late August or early September
so that you will be able to discuss it during the first week of school.
(This means that you should read at least FOUR books over the summer.)
We recommend that you keep track of the books you read, and we will ask
that you share your summer readings with us.
Enjoy
all the activities planned for you and do not forget that READING is a
great form of ENTERTAINMENT!
We
wish you a great summer and look forward to seeing you this fall!
Sincerely,
7th Grade English Teachers
Middle School Librarians
