RESOURCES:

• Books: The High School Crane Library has an excellent collection of reference, fiction, and non-fiction books and an extensive collection of art materials. The online catalog,   SIRSI WebCat , is accessible from any computer with an internet connection.
• Online databases: The library currently subscribes to 40 online databases which support all aspects of Dalton's curriculum and include special reference material such as JStor, ARTstor, Project MUSE, CIAO, Grove Dictionary of Art / Music, and CAMIO. All databases are accessible from computers within the school, and most can be accessed remotely using ID's and passwords available from the librarians.
• Microfilm/Microfiche: The New York Times microfilm collection, which begins with the first edition in 1851 and continues through 1984, is a heavily used resource. The corresponding indexes are located on the mezzanine near the microfilm/microfiche reader/printers. Issues after 1984 are available online through Dalton's subscriptions to ProQuest Direct and Lexis-Nexis.
  
• Audio-Visual Collections: Currently the library has over 2,000 videos and DVDs and a music CD collection of almost 1,000 recordings representative of all genres. The library also houses more than 160 recorded books.
  
• Newspapers and Periodicals: The Crane Library subscribes to 2 print newspapers, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and approximately 70 magazines and journals. Back issues are kept under the periodical shelves for a period of several months to a year.
  
• Dalton Archives: The Dalton Archives contains records, photographs, and videos spanning the history of The Dalton School from its establishment in 1919. Please ask for assistance if you would like to access archived materials.
